About our 'New' Doors:

For many years the Period House owners have been successfully reclaiming many age old items. From Victorian baths and sinks to cast iron drain hopper, from interior and exterior doors to period fireplaces in all of the rooms in the house —you name it—if it was quality , its been found, restored and refitted.

One of the biggest problems, that many companies who deal in salvage are finding, is the difficulty in sourcing quality original doors. Strippadoor have been trading for over 30 years, and sadly have noticed a major decline in finding these products, no matter how far we go, so for the last couple of years we have been researching what we deem to be the best substitute and they are just perfect. Therefore, we are very proud to offer these ‘new’ period doors, that are built in the exact same methods of Construction, as originals were.

The range is Victorian, Edwardian, Art & Crafts and 1930’s. We believe very strongly, that this is a high priority for homeowners, that quality entrance doors can be an eye catching means of sellers looking to entice prospective buyers, or simply another part of taking pride in keeping a property's appearance as good as it can be.

The softwood/man-made or hardwood/man-made combinations are a competitively priced option where the door is later to be painted. The door stiles & rails are traditionally constructed using solid timber with mortice & tenon joints; we use a moisture resistant composite material for the panels and the door is primed before dispatch. For doors which are to be stained, we would manufacture the door completely from timber and dispatch this in its raw state suitable for the application of your chosen finish on site.”

The best construction for the door depends a lot on the circumstances and use. We sell approximately 40% softwood (Hemlock), 40% hardwood (Utile) and 20% oak (European). For sheltered installations such as in a porch or under a canopy with limited exposure to the elements - softwood is perfectly acceptable. For higher traffic areas or where the door is subject to extremes of weather, hardwood would be the better choice. Oak is usually chosen for aesthetic reasons due to the natural beauty of the grain.

Please check out pictures of the Doors we have already sold to our clients. We also have a stained glass department too - there really is no place better!
