Stripping of Pine Furniture
OLD PINE FURNITURE STRIPS WELL IN A STANDARD CHEMICAL TANK AND DOES NOT COST AN ARM AND A LEG
Old lead based painted furniture that has years of paint really does strip very well using this method. Items such as tables, dressers, chest of drawers , bedside cabinets, shelving and other old pine furniture can be stripped down of the paints which should leave a golden honey timber appearance. This will need quite a bit of work to restore it ie possible reglueing, possible repair, then filling and hand sanding, however once this is done a soft wax or oil finish will bring the piece back to its former glory.
It is very hard to price furniture as it is so individual and so varialbe in size.
An average pine chest of drawers will cost around £ 60 - £ 70 plus vat
Please note: Most pine furniture is Victorian / Edwardian and generally has been painted over the years. From 1970 onwards pine furnitutre has been reproduced and quite alot has been varnished with either cellulose or water based varnishes. These are very difficult or impossible to remove. All we can do is try a small part of it - for instance a chest of drawers will have a drawer. As we cant stop the process once started it is chargeble and we have no idea what the end result will be.
