Stripping of cast iron fireplace

Fireplace stripping

Original fireplaces look fabulous when they are restored.  Paint stripping is the best method and varies in price, subject to size and weight.  The stripping process removes the many layers of paint and leaves a decorative casting surface.  From here you (or Strippadoor) can iron-buff the fireplace to remove all remaining rust, leaving a surface that can then be painted using a graphite paint which easily polishes up/ is maintained with a soft cloth.  These services are additonal to the price of stripping.

The pictures shown are of an unstripped fireplace which is then buffed and refinished.

Obviously we can just strip the fire or alternatively we can quote for a full refubishment which includes wire buffing and then polishing using the oringianl graphite finishes.

A small fireplace as per photo 1 would cost around £35 to £80 plus VAT to strip and finish.

A medium sized one, as per photo 2, would cost  around £60 plus VAT to strip and then around a further £120 plus VAT to fully refurbish.

Average sized inserts only cost around £40-45 plus VAT and then costs of refurbishment.

Larger frames , combination fires and others - please ask us for an estimate.
